The Happiest Place in Earth
Our first day in LA and it was an LA you never hear about: raining!! I think green thumbs would call it a “soaking rain” and we certainly got thoroughly soaked whilst out exploring with a morning run. All the running calories immediately got replaced with a breakfast at Coast which was almost heart attack inducing. Not because of the traditional American fattiness but the cost! TEN US DOLLARS for a coffee!
After an appropriate time to recover from the financial shock, we were off to Disneyland specifically to DO the Star Wars bit. Some observations on Disneyland:
They are very organised about parking: there was a million parking cones directing everyone to specific rows and then you were told exactly where to park. I was very impressed.
Once in the park, its an overwhelming experience - we spent 2 hours in the Star Wars zone and most of that was trying to figure out where everything was and how everything worked
Splash Mountain was the ride of the day - terrifying and exhilarating all at once. Indiana Jones was terrifying without the exhilaration, Big Thunder Mountain Railway was a close second favourite and the parade was probably the least favourite. Mainly because by then it was raining again and cold with it and sitting in the rain for 45mins waiting for Mickey wasn’t something on my bucket list.
Disneyland is truly the version of America that the rest of the world think America is: manicured streets, friendly faces on every corner and non-stop entertainment
22,000 steps for the day and a full day of activity so a successful day of holidaying!

Disneyland is more like the Ark: full of screaming children and old cunts
